About Us

Michelle Gruppetta

Hi, I'm Michelle, the artist behind Funeral Biscuit. Thanks for stopping on by!

And so for the question I know you're all dying to ask...why funeral biscuit? A funeral biscuit was a type of biscuit traditionally served at funerals in Scotland, England, Wales and North America in the 18th/19th century, and sometimes were stamped with a cherub, skull or hourglass. They're a very delicious sort of memento mori, meant to comfort the living and remind them that we don't have much time left. I've been meaning to open a shop for a while, and there's no better kick up the arse to get you started like the reminder of our imminent end...so eat up!

I've always been a doodler, covering my arms, notebooks and even walls (sorry Mum!) with sketches! I'm always messing about with different media, whatever takes my fancy at the moment really, but I've always always loved printmaking.

Here in this shop you can find bold, bright prints full of fun! I hope you love them as much as I loved making them, and that they bring a smile to your face!

I hope that you find something here that resonates with you, inspires you, or at the very least, makes you smile!

With love,

Michelle
